I did a runner when I was 3. I was down the town with my mum and she was chatting to her friend. I got bored and wandered off. I turned around and she was gone! I walked home (about half a mile or more). Mum had the police raking the high street for me. When she came home in tears, she told my dad I was missing and he said, "No he isn't, he's in his bed upstairs". I got a hug.
Well there were some words I didn't understand.

That story brought me out in a sweat because I did something similar as a kid.

I managed to climb on to a top shelf in a wardrobe - initially I was thrilled at the ensuing chaos of everyone shouting for me and then it turned to icy fear when I realised revealing myself would be met with hysteria.

Eventually I gave myself up and I would love to say my Mum clutched me to her chest and wept in relief but the truth was she absolutely battered me ..:-O

The Police, an English rock band was formed in 1977. It consisted of Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar), Andy summers (guitar, vocals), and Stewart Copeland (drums, vocal percussion).

They are very popular globally. They have brought Sophistication & Bristling energy to the new wave movement. Their singles "Roxanne" "Message in a bottle" "Don't stand so close to me" and "Everything she does is magic" have a Universal appeal irrespective of age & musical taste.

Bassist Gordon summer was nicknamed Sting, because he wore a Black & Yellow jersey. He worked as a school teacher and played with a jazzy outfit called "Last Exist".

Drummer Stewart Copeland's father was a CIA officer in the Middle East where he grew up. He formed a band "Curved air" which was slogging. He met Sting in Newcastle, England in 1976 and the two formed "The Police", Andy Summers replaced Henry Padovani, The guitarists within a year. The name "The police" was decided upon by Copeland.

As their Musical ability was recognised, Stewart's Brother Miles Copeland, their Manager thought about a novel strategy to build a fan base in America. "The Police" toured the major cities & colleges in van which brought them good dividends as their records started to sell. They also tour parts of the world which were not rock band savvy like Argentina & India., This ground work also paid rich dividend & they became a Global sensation

In 1979, they went on a yearlong tour of the world, which brought them huge recognition and they were the budding superstars by the end of the tour.

Having seen & experience the world & success made them more philosophical for their third album "Zenyatta Mondatta". This had numbers like "driven to tears", "canary in a coalmine".

"The police" released their last last album Synchronicity in 1983. Noted songs include "Every breath you take", "Synchronicity ii", "wrapped around your finger". The single "King of pain" was nominated for the "Album of the year Grammy" but lost to Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The singles won the "Grammy for the song of the year" beating Jackson's Billie jean.

In 1983, while the group was performing at the Shea stadium concert, Sting decided to go solo. And after the tour the group was Disbanded, Each member went on to pursue his own solo carrier. They came together in 1986, to play three concerts for the "Amnesty international, A conspiracy of hope".

After this they had no intention of continuing together. After their breakup, Sting got married to Trudie styler, since all three of them were together the guests pressurised them to perform & they played "Roxanne" & "Message in a hotel".

In 2007 it was conformed that the police would reunite for the Grammy's and that the police would also embark on a massive tour to cities of the world.

The Reunion tour began in 2007 and went on for more than a year till August 2008. It was an astounding success & was attended by thousands of their fans in every city.

That was the end of the Reunion of "The police".

What does the siren mean after a dispatcher dispatches a fire truck or something?

I have a police scanner and sometimes after a dispatcher plays the department fire or medical tone, a wierd siren thing plays. What does that mean?

It may be you are hearing part of the tone used to trip the firefighter's pagers. Each department has a unique tone to set off specific pagers. Many departments may use the same freq. for dispatching so they need to have a way to alert only the agency they are calling. After a while, many firefighters, cops , emt's can actually tell you what agency is getting "toned out" just by listening to tone.

I'm going along police ride along tommorow, what questions should I ask the police officer???

I want to join a police agency where I live and will be doing a police ride along.
I was wondering what questions I should ask tomorrow during my ride along. I have formulated some of my own questions, but I want other people’s opinion about what they would ask if it were them sitting in the police car.

Please share your questions, thank you. Any advice would be great and much appreciated.

If it gets slow, ask the officer about the weird stuff he has seen while on the job! Most officers have quite a few stories that happened to them that are just about unbelievable! The only sad part about these stories is that ... they are true!
