The Bridgewater Township Police Department will be hosting an awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 4:00 pm. in the Municipal Courtroom.

Is a police department liable if they fail to adhere to a court ordered expungement?

Within Ohio: A county court grants expungement of a charge in a case that was dismissed (yes, the charge still appears). A city within that county fails to seal/expunge the record. Under the rules of the county or of the state of Ohio, is the police department in violation of any law? Can they face any sanctions?

I don't understand what the department is supposed to be adhering to. Police departments don't expunge records, the courts do.
