"Secret" illegal drug sales signs?
This is boggling my mind. If everyone seems to know that two shoes tied together thrown over a utility line in a neighborhood means that there are drugs available there to buy, why do police let the shoes hang there? AND are they patrolling that area more heavily when they see the shoes? I have been driving past a neighborhood for a month in my area and there are shoes hanging there everyday. What's up with this?
Yes, I've read about that, they call it, "shoefiti." It's gang related but the purpose of it still has many theories. Everything from the location of a drug dealer, territorial rights, rites of passage, or a memorial to a fallen gang member.
I should say the concept began with gangs and is most often gang related, but there may be copy-cats out there by now. This has been going on for quite some time in the Los Angeles area.
