Anyone else get car radio static/dead air if police nearby?
My car picks up large amounts of static where radar/police radios are active. Usually its within a quarter mile of me. My radio is stock 2005, I don't quite understand. Any thoughts? Could they pick me up on radar if I can hear their frequency. Just in case your wondering, it comes through sattellite too.
wow...I'd consider yourself lucky to have a free "police detector". Seriously, sounds like overloading of the antenna input or some other component in your vehicle that seems sensitive to rf interference. The Federal Communications Comission website has some facts on transmitter interference. You might be able to use that as leverage to have the manufacturer or even the local police department fix your car stereo at their cost. Just an idea...
