What Equipments Are Security Systems?

There are hundreds of equipments that come with home security systems.  Below are some of the most important equipments in security systems.

Security panels: A small box attached to the wall, the panel has a keypad that allows the system to be turned on or off with the correct code (chosen by the homeowner). Panels come in all price ranges that allow temporary codes for contractors or allow only certain areas, or zones, of the home to have alarms set. More the choices, higher is the cost.

Monitor: security systems can be connected to monitoring stations which work around the clock to assess the nature of the alarm and alert the police, if necessary. Some systems connect directly to the police. This feature in particular will increase the cost, and if a home that's connected to the police has too many false alarms, it may result in fines. There are also components of systems that will alert the fire department of smoke alarms, and there are medical detection systems available as well.

Exterior sirens: Sirens placed on the exterior of a home that go off when the interior alarms are tripped serve two purposes: to scare away the intruder, and to alert neighbors to a possible problem in hopes they'll call the police. Exterior sirens are popular choices for people who don't want to invest in the monitoring system.
Cameras: Security cameras can be installed on the exterior of your home to monitor who's coming up the driveway or ringing the doorbell without you having to open the door. They can be expensive and require more ongoing maintenance than other components.

Motion detectors: The basic systems are triggered when a door or window is opened. Motion detectors can be added within the home, too. Proponents of motion detectors point out that an informed thief can cut out a window without triggering the window alarm. However, motion detectors are not recommended for families with small children or pets that roam at night, and those people can take comfort in the fact that not many thieves will take the time to carefully remove a pane of glass from a windowsill so as not to trip an alarm.
