I want to take a police uniform patch and mount it to wood to make a plaque for an award.?
I want the patch to be encased in some kind of epoxy to be sealed under the epoxy and on top of the wood.
How would I go about making this plaque? What kind of glues, epoxies and finishes can I use?
Just about any standard craft glue will hold the patch to the wood. Just be sure it is recommended for wood and cloth(?) or whatever the patch is made from.
A great sealer I've used on clocks and other craft projects is a Clear Polymer Resin (see link below for some details on the product) It comes in several brand names and can be found in most craft stores or online.
It's a two part resin, mixed together and usually poured over the item to be finished. It is generally glossy but can be buffed with steel wool (once cured) to a satin finish if desired. It is very easy to use and clean up and offers great protection.
Good luck with your project

What make police officers easily identifiable are the unique uniforms that they wear. The different branches of public servants have their own uniforms assigned to make them recognizable to the public.
Law enforcement officers have one branch of uniformed police. They are required to wear the unique clothing not only because it is mandatory, but also because it makes them easily recognizable by the public. This not only gives a sense of security to the public that police officers are there to serve and protect them and to maintain peace and order, but it also acts as a deterrent to possible criminal activities.
When a police officer is on duty, it is mandatory that he wear the uniform assigned to him properly. Different countries have different uniforms for their law enforcement officials, but a police uniform should always be recognizable in case the services of the police are required. The uniform commands respect from the public, but strikes fear in potential law breakers.
As a part of the uniform, the officer has a name badge to identify him. Rank patches can be found either at the upper arm or on the shoulder. Standard weapons assigned to the officer are also part of the uniform. Some higher-ranking officials have the medals earned throughout their careers as part of the uniform as well.
It is important to take note that there are manufacturers who produce replica uniforms for costume purposes. These are usually used for entertainment, but there are occasions in which these fake uniforms are used to mislead people and make them think that the wearer is an actual police officer.
