do police vehicles have radio repeaters for the officer's portable radios?
It depends some jusrisdictions do some dont. For them to use a repeater, they have to change their portables to a different frequency for the repeater to pick up then the repeater transmits out on the "regular" frequency. some smaller departments like mine dont want to spend the extra money on individual ones, so they put 3 or 4 tower repeaters thruout the county, the officers use whichever tower they are closer to.
