The Second Tier Police Equipment
The main police equipment that demarcates policemen from the lay public are guns, batons, knives, lights, and their defense gear like their helmets and boots. While these are definitely the main police equipment, there are other small items of police gear that may be less important but help in storing and securing the main items better. Some of the smaller items like name plates may have more of aesthetic value than utility value but nevertheless can be a good addition to the overall gear.
Wallets and cases for holding badges and identity cards are police equipment that helps in displaying badges and IDs while at the same time keeping them safe. A clip-on badge holder that can be fastened to the duty belt is a handy gear that helps in personal identification. Some of these badge holders will have eyelets that will allow the user to add his own chain if necessary, or to wear it round the neck.
A neck badge and ID holder is a similar police equipment for keeping the badge and ID safe around the neck. It will have a plastic window that allows a clear view of the ID, a stretch cord for wearing it around the neck, and Velcro straps at the bottom. There are also more conventional leather wallets that will store badges and IDs in a more concealed manner and will also have a deep pocket for keeping money.
Another handy police equipment is gear bags in which much of the duty paraphernalia of policemen can be stored in an organized way. There are gear bags with 15 or more compartments with separately sized compartments for heavier files with metal clips, pockets with drawstrings to keep the smaller items secure, ventilated compartments in which wet things can be kept for airing, and several smaller compartments for things like pens. There are also larger trunk organizers, which have adjustable dividers that will let you divide the space as you require.
Baton holders, as the name implies, are police equipment to hold batons. Various types of baton holders are available to hold folded and expanded batons. There are what are known as baton scabbards, which are flexible enough to be kept in various positions. Some baton holders will shake the baton open when the policeman runs, and some models come with interchangeable platforms on each of which the baton holder can be locked in different ways.
Two line or one line professional nameplates on which the name of the person and the emblem of the department are engraved, are police equipment that many policemen like to have on their uniform. The nameplates may have magnetic clamps or may have a clutch back or pin back. Some nametags come with a 'serving since' addendum. The addendum will be a small strip in the color of silver or gold with something like 'serving since 1980' written on it. It will be a nice addition for those who are proud of their long years of service. Small, polished nametag fasteners of polyurethane are also available for clipping on the tags.
