MCOLES Police Certification Test Help!?
I am one week away from graduation and I am taking the MCOLES (Michigan Commission on LE Standards) test to become "certifiable" in a few days and am pretty nervous.
For starters, how is this test structured and how many questions? Also, how hard is this honker gonna be? Are there any special areas to be aware of (I.e, CSC, Domest. Vio., First Aid, traffic crashes)? I get very little info on this test when i ask about it...it's like its forbidden to talk about it. I'll take any tips.
Please only answer if you've taken this test or if you truly know what youre talking about. Thanks!!
I'm actually not trying to cheat...what i asked is not cheating. I didnt ask for specific examples, I just wanted to get a grasp of some things that the test focuses on. Take it easy chief.
It is forbidden to talk about it. You are not witnessing some type of illusion. It is an integrity issue. If someone tells you there is more of this subject than that subject, how is that not cheating? You now know you have to study something else more than the other because you know the test will ask about it.
If you don't know that that is an integrity issue, you may want to re-adjust your thinking. Your integrity is all you have in LE. Without integrity, you will be no use to the agency, and termination will come shortly after.
I can tell you that it is about 200 questions.
"Are there any special areas to be aware of (I.e, CSC, Domest. Vio., First Aid, traffic crashes)?" <-----That is cheating. If you disagree, refer to my 2nd paragraph. If still disagree, then go ahead and ask the instructor whats on the test. You'll get an answer. Why do you think no one talks about it? As I've said before, officers get terminated when they are found to have a lapse in integrity. I'm only looking out for you when I tell you to re-adjust your thinking.
And I'm not a chief. So take it easy there, trainee.
UK Police Application Form Guidance
Filling out a police application is pretty basic but you must be old enough to submit an application. Most police departments have a minimum requirement for making an application to their academies with the youngest applicant needing to be twenty-one years of age. A few will allow slightly younger applicants at age nineteen.
The requirements for being eligible to submit an application do vary with each police department but the following is some generalized information that will be required by every police application.
Just like filling out any employment application you will need to provide your personal information on the application. Along with your personal identification you will need to provide good information for contacting you and a valid mailing address. Along with the mailing address be sure to include your main e-mail address and any phone numbers.
You will be asked your full name, social security number, driver's license number, your gender and your date of birth. Other names and addresses you will need to provide will be of any organizations that you have been a part of for at least ten years. Your previous work experience going back ten years should also be included or as far back as you have worked if it has not been ten years. For the last employers be sure to include their names and addresses.
If you have military in your background you will need to give the branch and the dates of your service. Be sure to list any police experience or training you have received along with security training whether it was in the military or with another kind of organization.
For your education you should start with the most recent college or high school that you have attended, the names of the institutions and the dates you attended. Remember to say what kind of degree or diploma that you earned or tried to earn and indicate your major.
Once you have completed the full application you will need to attach a copy of your birth certificate, social security card, an official copy of the driver's license, your high school diploma and college degree if applicable and any other documentation that is requested on the application. There will be some kind of fee which usually is twenty to forty dollars.
When you sign the application you are certifying that the information on the police application is completely correctly and to the best of your knowledge. Send the application to the address given which is usually at the bottom of the form and be sure to keep a copy of the application that you have mailed.
